I've been a United fan since birth, so understandably, over the last few years I've been doing my best to support MUST(Manchester United Supporters Trust) in their best efforts to organise events, marches, flags etc to kick the Glazers out of United. Last saturday, 30th October, a huge protest was planned in order to prove to the Glazers the lengths we as fans are prepared to go to in order to get them out of our club. Flares, smoke bombs, banners etc were used in order to support this where around 3000 people were believed to have marched through the streets to the front of the Megastore in order to protest.
Something that has been a common find amongst protestors are the Green and Gold scarfs. For those who don't know, Green and Gold are the original colours of Newton Heath who in 1902 changed them name to Manchester United. Now, MUST came up with idea of the scarfs which have been a huge success and something that has really emulated the protest and spread the word of MUST around the world. But this is a problem. As always you will get clueless bandwagon jumpers and this has been the case with the protests. People wearing non-MUST G&G Scarfs, wearing official merchandise, then buying unholy amounts of food inside the ground? These people need to realise that in-fact the whole concept of the protests are too not buy things that will give the Glazers any money. From every £1 spent at United the Glazers pocket 70 p out of it, which is ridiculous. People need to realise what the protest is about, and if it means they will still buy merchandise etc then they fuck right off!
Will try to write up another post later tonight, cheers.
